Rusty Boris is a versatile musical performer, arranger & composer known for vibe, style & substance. He counts among his influences such luminaries as Jaco Pastorius, Charles Mingus, Stravinsky, and SunRa. Best recognized for his signature bass solos in a variety of musical styles from bluegrass to rock and jazz, Rusty is in demand as a live performer and recording artist in the Hudson Valley, the greater New York area, and beyond.
Recent live performances include collaborations with Gretchen Langheld & Friends at Rosendale Café & Williams Lake resort, acclaimed harpist, Elizabeth Panzer, at the Albert Shahinian Fine Art Gallery (Poughkeepsie), Francesca Tanskley, jazz pianist, in a benefit performance for International Women’s Peace Service (Kingston), Jay Mankita at the Red Bull Inn (Great Barrington,MA), Roland Mousa at Colony Café (Woodstock) and Barely Lace as part of the 2006 Rosendale Street Festival.
Boris performs regularly at various local with Tumbao Blue (www.Misterdave.net), a hot & spicy Latin/jazz/blues combo, and he also appears with his own groove-oriented jazz ensemble, Rusty & the Riverkats featuring original compositions.
